Land Stewardship
Longwood Gardens has a deep commitment to ecological land management. This commitment extends beyond the formal gardens to include nearly 700 acres of natural areas. The perimeter crew, led by the Land Steward, manages these diverse lands, which include meadows, forests, and wetlands. They are responsible for managing invasive plant species; the prescribed fire program in the meadows; perimeter plantings; right-of-way mowing; and forest, wetland and wildlife management.
