Longwood Gardens celebrates its “roots” as an historic arboretum during Arbor Day Weekend with special family-friendly events! 

April 29 & 30, 12:00–4:00 pm

Families will enjoy tours, arborist demonstrations and informational sessions. Children are invited to “Gear Up” and discover what it is like to be an Arborist.

The first 350 guests each day receive a voucher for a free sapling. Pick up your voucher at the craft station outside of the Peirce-du Pont House, then stop by the Visitor Center on your way out to redeem your voucher for a sapling.

ABORIST EQUIPMENT AND VEHICLE DISPLAY
Join Longwood Gardens’ Arborists as they show off and demonstrate some of the unique and very cool equipment they use to care for our trees. 

TALK TO AN ARBORIST
Do you have questions about tree care? Meet with an arborist and find out the answers.

KIDS CLIMB
Young tree climbers can join Longwood’s arborists and see how they climb into Longwood’s trees. For safety purposes, trying on the arborists’ climbing gear is only available for children ages 6 to 12 years old.

BARK CRAFT AND TREE GIVE-AWAYS 
Help us celebrate Arbor Day by planting a tree at home and make a bark rubbing headband. Climb the bird house treehouse to learn about local birds and find out what you can do to take care of birds at home. Make sure to get a voucher for a free tree sapling and pick it up at the Gardens Shop, located in the Visitor Center, on the way to your car. Free trees are limited to the first 350 guests.

FLOWER GARDEN WALK TOUR
