Bindery/ Collection Assistant
Function: Protect books against wear and tear by reinforcing, repairing, and covering books and creating folders and boxes for serials and pamphlets.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair damaged book covers, spines, or pages
- Reinforce books, pamphlets, or serials
- Create boxes or folders to protect items in the Library’s collection
- Correctly label items with the title and call number
- Change the SydneyPlus holding record
- Reshelf finished items
- Carry out other tasks as required under the direction of the Library Assistant
Requirements/Expectations:
- Willingness to learn and work with the SydneyPlus Catalog and Holdings (this requires general PC knowledge)
- Ability to work independently
- Measuring and cutting accurately
- Ability to visualize finished three-dimensional objects from flat components
- Familiarity with Library of Congress Classification System
- Ability to follow step by step instructions precisely
- Complete required orientation and training
- Follow Longwood Gardens' policies, procedures, and standards
- Familiarity with the Library Procedures Manual
