Garden Highlights Volunteer Team

Function: Work with other Volunteers and Longwood staff to prepare weekly garden highlights lists for use by staff and for posting onto Longwood’s web-site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Execute a visual inventory of plants in bloom both indoors and outdoors
• Work with other Volunteers to add current information into garden highlights computer files
• Create current week’s file on Wednesday of each week
• Send garden highlights information to designated contact

Requirements/Expectations:

• Interest in and some knowledge of horticulture and plants
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and e-mail
• Time in personal schedule to complete information gathering and data file creation by Wednesday of each week
• Work with Longwood staff to facilitate information gathering
• Complete required orientation and training
• Follow Longwood Gardens' policies, procedures, and standards
• This volunteer position is shared by more than one volunteer

Time Required:

• One to two hours per week depending on season
• More time is required during peak outdoor bloom periods
