Welcome to Longwood Learning!

Following Longwood’s founder Pierre du Pont’s educational mission in the Garden’s charter, Longwood works to provide world-class horticultural learning at all levels—from individuals with a passing interest to those who make horticulture a central part of their lives.

Daily Visitor Programs (included in the regular Gardens admission) such as self-guided audio tours, behind-the-scenes guided tours, and other daily and special programs provide learning opportunities for all Garden visitors.

Lectures, Courses and Workshops, offered by our Continuing Education department, allow students—from hobbyists to professional gardeners—to develop their skills and knowledge.

Longwood Gardens is pleased to introduce a new series of School & Youth Programs designed to nurture student curiosity while focusing on learning.

Internships, including the College Internship Program, International Gardener Training Program, and High School Summer Internship Program offer hands-on experience to prepare individuals for careers in horticulture and related arts and sciences.

The two-year Professional Gardener Program combines a rigorous academic curriculum with hands-on training to prepare individuals for careers in horticulture.

The Longwood Graduate Program at the University of Delaware helps students who are already competent and experienced in ornamental horticulture to train for a leadership career in public horticulture.

Symposia give attendees the opportunity to learn about a topic in-depth.
