Visitor Center Assistant Manager

Longwood Gardens has an opening for a full time Visitor Center Assistant Manager.  We are looking for an individual who will assist in supervising the daily operations of the Visitor Center. Responsibilities will include managing and training staff as well as implementing work schedules and assignments. This individual will assist with crowd control during peak time periods and also handle guest issues that cannot be resolved by the staff. The schedule will vary but will include weekends, evenings and holidays. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service, supervisory and hospitality skills. Candidates must have 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, preferably in a retail or other customer service oriented establishment. In addition the individual must have excellent computer skills and be proficient in using a point-of-sale system.


Greenhouse Grower

Longwood Gardens has an opening for a full time Greenhouse Grower. They will join 11 other growers, producing 1000 unique florist crops, in 4.5 acres of greenhouses and container fields, used to create Longwood’s world-renown displays. Responsibilities include all aspects of production of specific floral crops as well as: assisting other growers, covering for them in their absence, ordering greenhouse supplies, and receiving and delivering plants.  Periodic weekend, holiday, and evening duty is required.  Minimum requirements include: Associate of Science Degree in Horticulture or equivalent; working knowledge of greenhouse production technology, environmental control systems, irrigation; and two years of experience in greenhouse production.  Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain a Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator’s license and a forklift operator’s training certificate.
