Idea Garden Vegetables

Function:

Assist gardening staff with maintenance of the vegetable section in Longwood's Idea Garden

Duties:

• Plant, prune, mulch, water, and deadhead plants as needed
• Harvest fruits and vegetables
• Divide herbaceous plants
• Stake plants as required
• Repot various plant material
• Assist staff with other work as needed

Requirements:

• Able to work independently
• Able to lift 50 pounds (bags of fertilizer)
• Able to work in full sun
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Complete required orientation and training
• Must follow Longwood Gardens' policies, procedures, and standards
• Able to accept direction from the work supervisor
• Punctual and dependable
• Purchase and wear safety shoes

Time Required:

• Minimum of 1 3-hour shift per week, May through September
