Inventory Assistant

Function: Keep accurate records of location and status of books in the collection

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Locate lost or missing books
  • Generate appropriate inventory lists
  • Update SydneyPlus holdings and shelf list holdings
  • Visit offices to check assigned holdings
  • Check the main library’s holdings
  • Locate and fix errors within the SydneyPlus catalog
  • Carry out other tasks as necessary under the direction of the Library Assistant

Requirements/Expectations:

  • An understanding of the Library of Congress Classification System
  • Willingness to learn SydneyPlus (requires general PC knowledge)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Complete required orientation and training
  • Follow Longwood Gardens policies, procedures, and standards
  • Familiarity with the Longwood Library Procedures Manual

Time Required:

  • Four hours per week
