Kid's Garden Adventure Attendant

Function:

Present information, answer questions, and interact with children and their parents during specially-themed children’s programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Receive training on procedures and scheduled activities
Work with the Visitor Education Intern to plan, set up, and facilitate program
Interact with children and parents during the program
Answer gardening-related questions, as well as questions about Longwood
Be available to assist visitors with questions or concerns regarding their Longwood visit

Requirements/Expectations:

Interest in children and sharing learning opportunities with them and their parents
Interest in receiving and sharing knowledge of particular horticultural topics
Interest in working with Longwood staff to increase knowledge of plants, horticulture, and Longwood Gardens
Strong verbal skills and ability to interact comfortably with Longwood visitors of all ages
Complete required orientation and training
Follow Longwood Gardens' policies, procedures, and standards
This volunteer position is usually shared by more than one volunteer to maximize the experience for both visitors and the volunteer
