Tripods & Easels

Tripods for amateur photography and easels for drawing or painting may be used at Longwood Gardens. Please observe the following regulations:

  • Tripods and free-standing easels may be used any day (including weekends and holidays).
  • All photographers must sign a form indicating that any photographs or video/film footage taken at Longwood Gardens will not be used for promoting commercial products or services. (Please note that Longwood will not sign general releases giving permission for stock agencies to use photos taken at Longwood.)
  • Sessions are limited to garden photography, not wedding photography, portraits, product photography, or portfolio photography for aspiring models.
  • All photographers and artists must purchase general admission or be valid Garden Passholders.
  • Photography, painting or drawing sessions must not interfere with the enjoyment of other guests.

It is not necessary to inform Longwood of your plans in advance; simply purchase your admission ticket upon arrival and proceed to the Information Desk in the Visitor Center where you will fill out the permission form and receive a tripod and/or easel tag.

Monopods may be used at any time, except after 3:00 pm on days with Fireworks & Fountains shows.

Hand-held easels (without legs) for drawing or painting are permitted at any time, as long as they do not interfere with the enjoyment of Longwood's other guests. Portable chairs and equipment carts are not permitted.
