Rose Garden

Function:

Assist gardening staff with maintenance of the roses in Longwood's Formal Rose Garden

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plant, prune, mulch, water, and deadhead plants as needed
• Scout garden for pest and disease problems
• Assist staff with other work as needed

Requirements/Expectations:

• Able to work independently
• Able to learn and become proficient in various corrective and annual pruning techniques
• Able to lift 50 pounds (bags of fertilizer)
• Complete required orientation and training
• Follow Longwood Gardens’ policies, procedures and standards
• Accept direction and guidance from work supervisor
• Punctual and dependable
• Purchase and wear safety shoes

Time Required:

• Minimum of 1 6-hour shift per week, May through October
