Summer Writing and Reading Programs

SOLD OUT: What's the Buzz? (Half Day, students who have completed grades 3 or 4)

Come discover the cool insects and plants at Longwood Gardens. Take daily excursions into the gardens and use your discoveries as inspiration for reading and writing. Explore multiple genres of writing and polish one or more of your written pieces for publication. Offered 9:00am - noon July 20 - 24. Program costs $200 for registrations received by June 6. $215 thereafter.

SOLD OUT: Meet Me in the Tree House (Half Day, students who have completed grades 1 or 2)

Join us for an adventure inspired by Nature's Castles, Longwood's magnificent tree houses. Students explore reading and writing in this fabulous garden setting. Offered 9:00am - noon July 6 - 10. Program costs $200 for registrations received by June 6. $215 thereafter.

Science Explorers Summer Science Camps

Looking for a fun-filled, excitement-packed summer day camp? Science Explorers week-long day camps are coming to Longwood Gardens! For more information or to register please visit the Science Explorers website.

Jr. Explorers (Half Day, Ages 4-6)

Calling all future scientists! Do you want to be an archeologist...a geologist...biologist or how about a chemist? You can be all this and more in this NEW fun filled camp! Go digging for dinosaurs, create your own fossil, erupt a volcano and mix up some fizzy potions. We'll throw in some adventure and go spelunking in your own cave creation. There's so much to explore in this exciting week of camp. Offered 9:00am-noon on July 27-31. Program cost of $175.

Jr. Discoverers (Half Day, Ages 4-6)

A week of fabulous hands-on fun...Get elbow deep in botany, oceanography and space. Let's bug out as we investigate our 6 legged friends. We'll be out of this world with different themes every day. Offered 9:00am-noon on August 3-6 (4 day camp). Program cost of $140.

Jr. Investigative Team (Half Day, Ages 4-6)

"Hey there, future Science Explorers, do we have the camp for you!" Join our team of curious tiny-techs as we explore a new theme each day. We will create an edible ocean, experiment with a "magic" magnet bottle, investigate butterflies, discover how birds adapt to their environments and make colorful sidewalk chalk! Offered 9:00am-noon on August 10-14. Program cost of $175.

Budding Naturalists (Half or Full Day, Ages 7-11)

Explore your big backyard called Earth!  Grow your own insect eating plants, get an up close look at how the food chain works with an owl pellet dissection, become a designer when we make our own natural tie dyes from things that grow around us, harness solar power to cook a yummy snack in your own solar oven, and explore weather and how it affects our world! All this and more in our specially designed earth guard series at Longwood Gardens focusing on the earth and what we can do to use it’s wonderful natural resources in a positive way!
Two sessions offered: August 3-6 (4 day camp) $236 full day/ $140 half day; August 10-14 cost $295 full day/ $175 half day.
