Visitor Center Volunteer Team

Function: To serve as a host/hostess for visitors in various capacities to enhance their experience at Longwood Gardens.  Help to greet, orient, provide amenities, and answer questions for visitors.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet visitors in lines and entering the Visitor Center
• Bus greeter including handing out brochures and providing an orientation for groups
• Explain promotions and events to visitors
• Assist with taking tickets at the door and providing amenities for our visitors
• Provide direction for visitors in the crowds during Fireworks shows
• Use resources to learn about Longwood Gardens to better answer visitor’s questions
• Assist as a substitute at the Heritage Exhibit and Audio Tour

Requirements/Expectations:

• Interest in interacting with people and providing great customer service
• Have a positive outlook when working in crowds and busy visitation times
• Ability to be flexible and have the desire to help where you are needed
• Willing to stand and walk for most of your session, indoors and outdoors
• Interest in and/or some knowledge of Longwood Gardens
• Interest in working with Longwood staff to increase the visitor’s enjoyment in the Gardens
• Complete required orientation and training
• Follow Longwood Gardens' policies, procedures, and standards
  

Time Required:

• Three to four hours per session
• Most events and crowds occur on the weekends and holidays. We will provide a schedule for volunteers to sign up for their sessions.
