Taking the Stage . . .

Lynn Riley and the World Mix, 12:00 pm
Lynn Riley and the World Mix perform a program of Smooth and World Jazz. Lynn, who has been described as a "Superwoman" on the sax, is constantly expanding her composing vocabulary and style by traveling and performing around the world. Lynn's music is influenced by the sounds of Cuba, South Africa, Bolivia and Brazil, which she blends with her original ideas and jazz roots.

Julian Lage Group, 1:30 pm
When Julian Lage emerged on the music scene 13 years ago, the young San Francisco Bay Area-based musician was not only deemed a guitar-playing prodigy, but he was also offered record deals on numerous occasions. Since then, he has played two Grammy-nominated albums—with Nnenna Freelon and Taylor Eigsti, and he has received recognition from musical luminaries, including Herbie Hancock and Béla Fleck. In 2009, he released his debut album, playing in his own unique style that melds blues, classical, folk and jazz influences. For the Wine & Jazz Fest, Julian will perform with his ensemble, the Julian Lage Group.

Jon Batiste Band, 3:00 pm
New Orleans native and pianist Jon Batiste is part of a culturally rich and significant lineage of New Orleans musicians and musical families. He has performed, recorded and toured in over 30 countries with artist such as Harry Connick Jr., Abbey Lincoln, Jimmy Buffett, Lenny Kravitz, Ellis Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, The Batiste Brothers, Alvin Batiste, Cassandra Wilson and Roy Hargrove. His band, including young virtuosos Joe Saylor, Phil Kuehn, Eddie Barbash and Matt "Silky Soul" Marantz, brings their unique blend of jazz, R&B, soul, rock, classical, and blues to the stage.

Simone, 4:30 pm
Simone is a singer, songwriter and performer whose ability to transcend genres echoes the tradition of her mother, musical icon and pioneer Nina Simone. Blessed with a rich vocal range, an innate skill for lyrical interpretation and a soul-deep understanding of music as a means of healing, empowerment and celebration, Simone is very much her mother's daughter, she is most assuredly a multi-talented artist in her own right. A highly-praised live performer whose impressive resume includes starring roles on Broadway in such acclaimed musicals as Rent and Aida, Simone has developed an exciting and diverse repertoire of pop, soul, jazz, rock and funk.
