A new yellow cultivar of Clivia miniata will be released by Longwood Gardens on March 17–18 at the North American Clivia Show at Longwood. This new clivia release has Clivia miniata 'Sir John Thouron' in its heritage. Sir John Thouron was an esteemed plantsman credited with bringing one of the first yellow clivia to the US in the 1950s. Longwood received a few of the rare clivia from Sir John, which we then propagated and named in his honor.
This plan won a first place and best-in-division ribbon at the 2010 NACS show at Longwood. It will be on display during the month of March 2012 and a small number of plants will be available for purchase The GardenShop.
