Longwood Organ Renovation

An extensive 13-year restoration of the Longwood Organ is complete, returning the Aeolian instrument to its 1930 splendor.

Craftsmen have rebuilt the wind chests and mechanisms, meticulously restoring virtually every element of the 10,010 pipe organ. The renovation also includes a new state of the art console and computer player featuring the latest computer technology, and permitting unparalleled control for the performer.

Tour Longwood’s unique organ museum gallery for an astonishing behind-the-scenes look at over 5,000 of the wood and metal pipes. An exhibit outlines the history of organs around the world and the story of the Longwood Organ, which began when Pierre S. du Pont built the ballroom in 1929.

Find out more about the Longwood Organ, and listen to the sounds of the pipes!
